You can officially cross “improve my relationships” off your list of “Things That My Smartphone Cannot Do.” Rejoice – app Happify just launched a new program to make you happier with your honey.
Research has shown that happiness only partially tied to genetics – the rest is up for grabs. The makers of Happify believe that users can become happier through practiced positive emotions. So, it was only a matter of time until they launched a love exercise.
In developing the love portion, Happify researched the hell out of romantic relationships and posted their findings. One sweetly simple finding had us lovebirds ready to text our people instantly:
“When it comes to strengthening your relationship, studies show the most crucial factor is how you celebrate your partner's good news. In one study, people who did this 3x a day for 1 week increased their happiness and felt less depressed afterwards.”
Can’t argue with that! While you’re at it, make sure to have sex 2-3 (meh, or more) times a week – you’ll be more likely to report happiness when you have sex every few days. Relive all the embarrassing moments (like that time you used that super sketch lube … you know what we’re talking about!) later on. Memories of a shared laugh create a stronger bond than recollections of all other happy moments.
In short, the secret to having the happiest relationship ever, oh em gee, is this: celebrate your boo’s achievements with sex. Be sure to make the sex awkward so that you laugh. Laugh about it later. Repeat forever.
